Mental Health Awareness
This course is designed to help you build a stronger understanding of common mental health issues, recognise when your own mental wellbeing may be affected, and learn practical ways to respond and seek support.
You’ll be introduced to tools like the mental health continuum, which can help you regularly check in with your emotional wellbeing and take proactive steps to stay mentally healthy. The course also covers how to identify early signs of mental distress in yourself and others, start supportive conversations, and find appropriate help when needed.
With 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing a mental health condition, it’s more important than ever to be equipped with the right knowledge and strategies to manage mental wellbeing—both personally and in those around us.
This course is suitable for any profession or industry and also outlines the legal responsibilities of employers in supporting mental health in the workplace.

This training course is delivered on-site at your location or at a training centre location and typically lasts 6 - 8 hours, No formal qualifications are needed to attend, making it accessible to all experience levels. Group sizes are kept small, usually between 6–10 delegates, to ensure focused, hands-on learning. Delegates are not required to bring any PPE for this training course
Module 1: Introduction to Mental Health
This module introduces the concept of mental health, why awareness matters, and the importance of addressing it in everyday life and the workplace. It covers common misconceptions, helps to break the stigma, and introduces the mental health continuum. Learners will explore common mental health challenges, the factors that contribute to poor mental wellbeing, and the responsibilities of employers in supporting mental health at work.
Module 2: Understanding and Managing Mental Health Problems
This module explores the key models of mental health and wellbeing and the factors that can impact our mental state. It provides an overview of common conditions such as stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, with a focus on how these may present in daily life and at work—including the challenges of remote working. Learners will gain insight into recognising symptoms and understanding how mental health issues can be managed and supported.
Module 3: Supporting Yourself and Others
This module offers practical strategies for maintaining good mental health, including self-reflection techniques and tips for staying well. It explores male mental health, how to seek help, and the treatment options available. Learners will also gain guidance on talking to an employer, supporting others in need or in crisis, and how to provide support while working remotely. Real-life scenarios and useful resources are included to build confidence and empathy when offering support.

Assessment
At the end of the course, learners will complete a theory-based assessment to confirm their understanding of the key topics covered.
The assessment consists of multiple-choice questions on:
• What mental health is and why awareness matters
• Common mental health problems and their signs
• The mental health continuum and contributing factors
• Strategies for managing personal wellbeing
• How to support others, both in-person and remotely
• Where to seek help and how to respond in a crisis
This assessment is designed to reinforce learning and ensure participants are equipped to apply their knowledge in both personal and professional settings. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Mental Health Awareness Training, demonstrating their commitment to promoting a mentally healthy environment.
